Rotary swaging: Lightweight construction and design flexibility

Rotary-swaged components are lightweight and manufactured precisely and efficiently. Rotary swaging also offers a lot of flexibility in terms of design. Developed more than a century ago, the process still has many advantages.

Lighter, faster, more precise

Lightweight components, or a more efficient method of production, give production planners and designers plenty to think about. Components made by rotary swaging are lighter, more precise and produced faster than when machined.

Easy Rider – the lightweight version

Lower cost and lighter weight, without compromising stability - those were the demands that a renowned motorcycle maker placed on Felss Rotaform US when the manufacture of the front axles was redesigned. Since 2006 more than 5000 blanks per week have been shaped using the rotary swaging process and introduced into the production process. Manufacture without cutting and optimised use of raw materials not only cuts the cost of the component considerably; its weight is also reduced as a result.

Projects
Felss technology on two wheels
The worldwide sales of motorized two-wheelers collapsed as a result of the economic crisis in 2008. Figures have only started to rise since 2011. Development has also been interesting for Felss: A number of components for motorcycles, scooters and Co. can be produced extremely efficiently and easily using the Group’s processes.
