Tube thickening to reduce process steps
The Tube+ machine offers partial thickening of the walls of a thin-walled blank. The Tube+ process developed by Felss uses a cold forming process to increase wall thickness and thus ensure the greatest possible component accuracy.
Applications of Tube+
Tube+ is an alternative to heat forming. A greater dimensional accuracy can be achieved compared to heat forming, and process steps, blank costs, and cycle times can often be reduced. This means that a heat supply and large forming presses often become unnecessary, despite the high degrees of deformation. Together with the fewer number of process steps, Tube+ increases economic efficiency.
The Tube+ machine is currently a prototype in a horizontal orientation and produces tubes thickened on one side as preliminary stages for steering shafts. In the future, a modular version of the machine will be available for various market segments with customer-oriented products. This means that it will also be possible to manufacture drive shafts with both ends thickened using our Tube+ process in future.
